We are Open for Submissions!
The Chachalaca Review is currently open for submissions! We are accepting all forms of art, including poetry, short fiction, interviews, book reviews, artwork, music, video, films, photography, and more.
Selected work will be included in Volume 8, the Spring 2021 version of the publication.
Deadline: April 1st, 2021
Theme: COVID-19
The theme for the Spring 2021 issue of The Chachalaca Review is "COVID-19". Through this global pandemic, we have experienced uncertainty, loss, isolation, and, at the very least, change.
For this issue, we are interested in works that relate to the artist's experience of the last year and the global pandemic, specifically.
As always - we want all of it, and we want to share it with our readers. If you have something to share, we want to hear it.

Submission Requirements
Identifying Information:
We do not require a cover page for submissions. However, to keep the reviewing process objective, we ask that you do not include any identifying information inside your work. Please only include your name within the Green Submissions form and in your bio. Including it elsewhere may disqualify your submission.
Please include a short biography about yourself. Your bio should not exceed 75 words. Write your bio using third-person point of view.
Text Files:
All text documents must be saved as .docx or .rtf files. All text must be in Times New Roman, font size 12. The Chachalaca Review is a multilingual journal – texts in other languages are encouraged and considered. Please keep fiction, nonfiction, and drama 3,000 words maximum per piece. Each person can submit up to five poems or two longer works.
If you are submitting more than one work, please combine your work into one single document instead of making multiple submissions.
Image Files:
Images must be saved as .tiff or .png files. For digital art, please submit the original file in the highest resolution possible. For physical art, please submit a scan of your artwork. If this is not possible due to size and dimensions, please submit a high-resolution photograph of your art. Including the original medium and dimensions of your artwork is highly encouraged.
Films must be 40 minutes or less. We prefer short films (10 minutes) over longer ones. Films must be hosted on YouTube. You can keep your film private by setting it as unlisted on YouTube. Please submit your YouTube link along with a short description of your work.
Music must be hosted on SoundCloud or YouTube. Please submit  your SoundCloud or YouTube link along with a short description of your work.
Other Information:
We do allow for simultaneous submissions. However, we do ask that you let us know immediately if your work has been accepted elsewhere. We will only accept previously unpublished work.
