Shannon Elizabeth Gardner is a recent graduate from UWSP, with a Bachelors in Studio Art and a Minor in Art History. Her interest in horror, the macabre, death and decay came about while exploring nature and the paranormal. She found the natural and organic process of death evokes empathy for decay. Life is beautiful when left to fate, leaving art to chance assists the viewer to witness beauty hidden within imperfections. Wabi Sabi is an Asian term that describes beauty within imperfections. Her work makes one appreciate nature's process and explore earth's imperfect beauty. People view the work as disturbing, beautiful, and natural. It stimulates memories and emotions that relate people with death and decay. Shannon's goal is to reach the extreme, address the taboo and macabre beauty of the world.
